Privacy Policy
Effective date: December 12, 2025 · SkipItTech, Inc.
This Privacy Policy explains how SkipItTech, Inc. ("Skipit," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Skipit website, browser extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
1. Who we are
Skipit is a browser extension and related web service that detects potentially distressing scenes in streaming content and lets you skip, mute, or read a summary before they play. SkipItTech, Inc. is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at info@skipit.tech.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email address — when you join the waitlist or ask to be notified about pre-orders.
- Messages — when you contact us for support or feedback.
Information stored on your device
- Extension settings — your chosen trigger categories and preferences are stored locally in your browser and synced through your browser's built-in storage. We do not need a copy of these settings to operate.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data — basic, aggregated analytics about how the website and extension are used (for example, page views, approximate region, browser type), collected to improve the product.
- Log data — standard server logs such as IP address and timestamps, retained for security and troubleshooting.
3. How the extension handles what you watch
Skipit is designed to be privacy-first. Scene detection is intended to run against scene metadata and timing rather than to record, store, or transmit the video you are watching. We do not sell, store, or build a profile of your personal viewing history. If any feature requires sending content data to our servers for processing, we will disclose it clearly here before that feature ships.
4. How we use your information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To send you waitlist updates, launch news, and pre-order notifications you requested.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
5. Categories of recipients
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the limited categories of recipients below, each of which receives only the data needed for its function and processes it under its own terms as our processor or service provider:
- Form & waitlist providers — Tally collects waitlist sign-ups (your email); see Tally's privacy policy.
- Hosting & form processing — Netlify hosts the website and processes pre-order email sign-ups submitted through our forms; see Netlify's privacy policy.
- Analytics provider — measures aggregate website usage. [Name your analytics tool here, if any; if none, state "we do not currently use third-party analytics."]
- Legal & corporate — authorities or advisors where required by law, and a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (we will notify you of any such transfer).
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The website uses a small number of cookies or local storage for essential functionality (such as remembering form state) and, if enabled, basic analytics. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings. [If you later add non-essential or advertising cookies, add a consent banner and update this section, including a description of each cookie's purpose and duration.]
7. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information based on: your consent (for marketing emails and any optional analytics); our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the Service); and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time.
8. Data retention
We keep your email for as long as you remain on our waitlist or pre-order list, or until you ask us to remove it, after which we delete it within a reasonable period. Log and analytics data is retained only as long as needed for the purpose collected — typically up to 12 months for logs and in aggregated or de-identified form thereafter. [Confirm specific retention periods with counsel.]
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email info@skipit.tech. We will verify your request, respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30–45 days), and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message.
10. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Effective date" above. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where appropriate.
